Recently, there was a widely reported accident in Bangladesh in which a factory collapsed and killed over 400 people. Obviously, this incident would reach the ears of Pope Francis, especially the part in which the workers were paid 38 euros a month.
"A headline that really struck me on the day of the tragedy in Bangladesh was 'Living on 38 euros a month'. That is what the people who died were being paid. This is called slave labour," The pope declared at a private mass.
In said private mass, he stressed not only to pray for the casualties but also about how the victims were under-paid. "Not paying fairly, not giving a job because you are only looking at balance sheets, only looking at how to make a profit. That goes against God!" he was quoted as saying.
